Communication focuses on the concepts, theories, and practice of human communication. Students apply their understanding of communication research and principles to personal, professional, and community relationships and concerns.
The department encourages students to tailor their program of study to meet their own interests. Majors select from one of six overlapping areas of concentration: Culture & Media, Health Communication, Organizational Communication, Performance Studies, Public Advocacy, and Relational Communication.
The Honors Program in Communication allows qualified students to pursue advanced study. A minor in Communication is also available.

» schedule an advising appointment
eScheduler is the easiest way to schedule an appointment. Appointments can be scheduled up to 2 weeks in advance and it will show up to the minute availability of slots. If a student cancels, their spot opens back up so if it looks full, keep checking back. Plan ahead since appointments tend to book up at least a week in advance. e-Scheduler also reflects walk-in times, during which no appointments are necessary. Students will then be seen on a first-come-first-serve basis.
